Search Engine Marketing Associate

SEM Associate Position Summary:

The SEM Associate is the key support resource for the paid search team. The Associate assists the Search Manager with campaign set up, execution, category research and success reporting. The goals for the role are to learn and apply basic search principles and execute and manage client’s online search campaigns. Even though the position is entry level, you must have a strong desire to learn about all things related to search marketing.

You’re a great fit for the role if you love challenges, can juggle multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail, are highly analytical with a passion for testing and learning, but also enjoy using the creative half of your brain! 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the creation, management and execution of paid search marketing campaigns.
  • Increase effectiveness by assisting the team with monitoring traffic levels, budget spend, performing audits and overall performance to update campaign as necessary.
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of monthly reporting data to recommend campaign changes and updates to SEM & CSM teams.
  • Develop working knowledge of SEM campaigns by assisting with monitoring trends and performance, best practice and techniques to keep current in SEM knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills: 

  • Problem Solver, Team Player & eager to learn new things.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including clear communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy when working with numbers.
  • Effectively communicate with internal staff and management both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer skills used to manage day-to-day workflow (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Education and/or Training needed:

  • College degree in business, marketing, management or advertising or equivalent experience.
  • Entry level – Minimum 1 year SEM experience required.
  • Digital Agency experience is a plus.
  • Should be certified in AdWords Fundamentals & Search Advertising. Shopping and Analytics certifications are a plus.

Experience with the following is a plus, but not required:

  • Experience with Bing Ads.
  • Experience with analytical software such as Google Analytics or Omniture.
  • Google Search Console / Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • Understanding of HTML/HTML5.
  • CMS experience such as WordPress, ExpressionEngine, or BigCommerce
  • Knowledge of Google’s algorithm updates.
